Duration of type 2 diabetes and remission rates after bariatric surgery in Sweden 2007–2015: A registry-based cohort study
PLoS Medicine Dec 13, 2019
Jans A, et al. - In this nationwide register-based cohort study including 8,546 adults with T2D and BMI ≥ 35 kg/m2 who received primary bariatric surgery in Sweden between 2007 and 2015 distinguished via the Scandinavian Obesity Surgery Registry, experts examined the relationship between T2D duration and the chance of attaining remission of T2D following bariatric surgery. Complete diabetes remission was accomplished in 58.2% and 46.6% of individuals following 2 years and 5 years, respectively. It was discovered that remission of T2D following bariatric surgery was inversely related to the duration of diabetes and was greatest among individuals with recent-onset and those without insulin treatment.
