Dual-energy computed tomography for prediction of loco-regional recurrence after radiotherapy in larynx and hypopharynx squamous cell carcinoma
European Journal of Radiology Nov 09, 2018
Bahig H, et al. - In patients with larynx/hypopharynx squamous cell cancer (L/H SCC), researchers examined if quantitative pre-treatment dual-energy computed tomography (DECT) can forecast loco-regional recurrence (LRR). In this exploratory study, they included 25 patients with L/H SCC treated with curative intent loco-regional radiotherapy and that had treatment planning with contrast-enhanced DECT of the neck. The findings from the present study suggested that LRR in L/H SCC might be foreseen by pre-radiotherapy DECT-derived iodine concentration quantitative analysis of tumoral volume.
