Dual antiplatelet therapy in transient ischemic attack and minor stroke with different infarction patterns: Subgroup analysis of CHANCE randomized clinical trial
JAMA Neurology Apr 01, 2018
Jing J, et al. - Researchers intended to ascertain if infarction patterns had the ability to stratify the risk of recurrent stroke and whether the efficacy and safety of clopidogrel plus aspirin compared to aspirin alone were consistent in different infarction patterns following the transient ischemic attack (TIA) or minor stroke. The risk of recurrent stroke within 3 months of noncardioembolic TIA or minor ischemic stroke could be efficiently stratified via infarction patterns. It was reported that subjects with multiple acute infarctions (MAIs) received the most pronounced clinical benefit from dual antiplatelet therapy without increasing the risk of moderate to severe bleeding. Nonetheless, a risk of stroke recurrence as high as those with single acute infarction persisted in patients with MAIs even after dual antiplatelet treatment.
