Doxycycline and minocycline in Helicobacter pylori treatment: A systematic review and meta‐analysis
Helicobacter Aug 02, 2021
Zhao J, Zou Y, Li K, et al. - Researchers aimed at ascertaining the efficacy and safety of semisynthetic tetracycline regimens in H. pylori treatment via performing a systematic review and meta-analysis. From PubMed, EMBASE, and the Cochrane library, they identified 23 studies with 5,240 participants for inclusion. In most studies, triple regimens with semisynthetic tetracyclines were linked with the eradication rates of less than 70% in both the intention-to-treat (ITT) and the per-protocol (PP) analyses. Overall findings suggest a possible value of 7-day and 10-day quadruple therapy with doxycycline as an optional first-line therapy. Relatively satisfactory safety was recorded for regimens containing semisynthetic tetracyclines. However, researchers did not recommend using the triple regimen.
