Double-level lumbar spondylolysis and spondylolisthesis: A retrospective study
Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research Mar 27, 2018
Zhang S, et al. - Researchers herein, in addition to the 24 cases of double-level lumbar spondylolysis and spondylolisthesis, presented review of literature and a brief description of the clinical and radiological features and integrated management of patients with this condition. Women were more often seen to develop double-level lumbar spondylolysis and spondylolisthesis. L3–L5 was the most common site of double lumbar spondylolisthesis. Findings suggested same treatment principle as that for single-level spondylolisthesis, but the reset order was questionable. The discomfort in most patients could be relieved by both, posterior lumbar interbody fusion (PLIF) with autogenous bone chips from posterior decompression or with cage. At follow-up, a high degree of loss in disk height was seen when autogenous bone was used. Hence, the use of a cage was suggested.
