Double-clip traction for colonic endoscopic submucosal dissection: A multicenter study of 599 consecutive cases (with video)
Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Feb 07, 2021
Bordillon P, Pioche M, Wallenhorst T, et al. - Researchers report the outcomes of systematic use of a countertraction device (double-clip traction with rubber band [DCT]) for performing colonic endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD), by conducting a pilot study. There were 599 lesions with a mean size of 53 mm involved in this investigation, that were resected by five operators in three centers. Data reported that the adverse event rates were 4.9% for perforation and 4.2% for postprocedure bleeding. DCT-ESD is a safe and reproducible technique that allows carcinological outcomes to be attained that are similar to those of large Japanese teams with resection speeds twice as high as those recorded in previous studies. The DCT strategy is encouraging, inexpensive, and appears to be reproducible. Knowledge of this tool should be shared with physicians conducting colonic ESD to enhance their results in ESD.
