Double-blind, placebo-controlled study with alginate suspension for laryngopharyngeal reflux disease

Tseng WH, et al. - In this study, the efficacy and safety of liquid alginate suspension were evaluated by the authors for treating laryngopharyngeal reflux disease (LPRD). Liquid alginate suspension appeared to be well tolerated. The symptoms and reflux numbers were effectively improved by this suspension but did not demonstrate superiority over placebo. A great placebo effect was present, as observed in the previous studies. Lifestyle modification was found to be significant.
