Dose selection of central or peripheral administration of sufentanil affect opioid induced cough?: A prospective, randomized, controlled trial
BMC Anesthesiology Apr 18, 2018
He J, et al. - The incidence of opioid-induced cough (OIC) mediated by different intravenous route was evaluated among patients (ASA I-II) who were scheduled for elective surgery under general anesthesia and received sufentanil via central or peripheral venous route. The incidence, onset time and severity of OIC were evaluated within 1 min just after sufentanil injection during induction and hemodynamic changes were also assessed by recording heart rate (HR) and blood pressure (BP). Compared with peripheral venous route, sufentanil administration by central venous route attenuated the incidence and severity of OIC, but without significant changes in hemodynamic status.
