Does the effect of adjunctive azithromycin on cesarean infection vary with cefazolin dose?
American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology Jan 18, 2018
Pasko DN, et al. - Researchers here assessed the effect of azithromycin (AZ) prophylaxis on cesarean (CD) infection rates at varying cefazolin doses. In addition, they investigated the independent effect of higher cefazolin dose on infection, adjusting for AZ and differences in BMI and race. Findings confirmed the efficacy of adjunctive AZ in reducing infection in unscheduled CD regardless of 2g vs 1g cefazolin dose. Moreover, the 2g cefazolin dose seemed to have no independent association with infection beyond the effect of 1g.
