Does surgery benefit patients with oligometastatic or metastatic prostate cancer? – A retrospective cohort study and meta-analysis
The Prostate Jun 05, 2021
Si S, Zheng B, Wang Z, et al. - Among oligometastatic prostate cancer (PCa) patients, this investigation was carried out to assess long-term oncological results of radical prostatectomy (RP) plus androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) in them. For this purpose, oligometastatic PCa patients hospitalized between January 1, 2010 and December 31, 2015, who were treated with ADT with or without RP, were analyzed herein. The two groups did not differ statistically significantly in terms of preoperative total prostate-specific antigen, clinical T stage, and N stage. An improved overall survival instead of castration-resistant prostate cancer-free survival was evident in relation to addition of RP to ADT for the treatment of oligometastatic PCa.
