Does SLE widen or narrow race/ethnic disparities in the risk of five co-morbid conditions? Evidence from a community-based outpatient care system
Lupus Nov 29, 2019
Falasinnu T, Chaichian Y, Li J, et al. - Adults with SLE (n = 1,036) and matched non-SLE individuals (n = 8,875) (≥ 18 years old) were included from a community-based outpatient care system in order to evaluate whether the presence of SLE individually improved or decreased the differences, considering for the already greater risk of these outcomes among racial/ethnic minority groups without SLE. Among the SLE exposed, the incidence of all outcomes was greater. A trivial variation in the odds of the outcomes related to SLE across racial/ethnic groups, even following multivariable adjustment was discovered. Hence, it was exhibited that principal interaction or heterogeneity by race/ethnicity toward the risk of pneumonia, other infections, CVD or neoplasms are not presented by SLE status does not individually.
