Does oral administration of ketamine accelerate response to treatment in major depressive disorder? Results of a double-blind controlled trial

Arabzadeh S, et al. - In a double-blind controlled trial, researchers investigated the time course of the therapeutic effect of ketamine when combined with the conventional administration of sertraline in major depressive disorder. As per findings, ketamine reduced the time lag for antidepressant effects of sertraline and produced an overall improvement compared to administration of sertraline with placebo. Thereby suggesting that oral ketamine could be considered as suitable adjuvant to sertraline in relieving depressive symptoms.
