Does neutrophyl to lymphocyte ratio really predict chronic kidney disease progression?
International Urology and Nephrology Oct 04, 2018
Altunoren O, et al. - In this study, researchers retrospectively reviewed 5-year data of 740 patients with stage 2–4 chronic kidney disease (CKD) to assess if neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR) may predict the progression of CKD. Findings suggested that NLR may be a relevant determinant of inflammation in CKD. Progression of CKD could not be independently predicted using NLR except that the CKD is in a more advanced stage and reflects the associated inflammation. Findings further revealed that progression may be predicted more strongly via the classical risk factors such as DM and lower glomerular filtration rate.
