Claro G, et al. - The incidence of extracapsular extension following needle biopsy vs surgical adenectomy in patients suspected of metastatic lymph node of melanoma was evaluated in this study. In cases of suspicion of metastatic lymph node of melanoma, experts noted an increased risk of extracapsular extension after external lymph node biopsy. Hence, in patients with suspected adenopathy accessible surgically, surgical adenectomy was preferred. Needle biopsy ought to be carried out under radiological guidance in other cases, through devices that limit tumor seeding.
