Does low-dose gapapentin reduce opioid use postoperatively?: A randomized controlled trial in women undergoing reconstructive pelvic surgery

Li ALK, et al. - Given the utility of pre-emptive gabapentin in decreasing postoperative pain in abdominal and vaginal hysterectomy, researchers investigated the effect of pre-emptive low-dose gabapentin in women undergoing vaginal hysterectomy with concomitant reconstruction. Pre-emptive gabapentin at their institutional low doses demonstrated no relevant effect on postoperative pain and opioid requirements in these women undergoing.
