Does laparoscopic intracorporeal ileocolic anastomosis decreases surgical site infection rate? A propensity score-matched cohort study

Martinek L, et al. - This propensity score-matched cohort study was conducted to compare intracorporeal to extracorporeal ileocolic anastomoses (ICA) in patients with Crohn’s ileitis and overweight patients with right colon tumors, in terms of surgical site infections (SSI). As compared to its extracorporeal counterpart, laparoscopic intracorporeal ICA reduced incisional SSI rates.
