Taito S, et al. - Through a systematic review and first meta-analysis, randomised controlled trials patients who received mechanical ventilation in the intensive care unit (ICU), the contributors intended to determine whether enhanced physical rehabilitation following ICU discharge would improve activities-of-daily-living function, quality of life (QOL) and mortality. The authors noticed no significant decrease in long-term mortality via rehabilitation. However, little to QOL or mortality at 6 or 12 months postintervention among patients who received mechanical ventilation in the ICU by enhanced physical rehabilitation following ICU discharge might be noticed.
