Does Helicobacter pylori eradication reduce the incidence of metachronous gastric cancer after curative endoscopic resection of early gastric cancer: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology Apr 11, 2019
Zhao B, et al. - In this systematic review and meta-analysis, researchers assessed if H. pylori eradication could prevent metachronous gastric cancer following curative endoscopic resection of early gastric cancer. Using a fixed effect model or a random effect model, the data from relevant studies was evaluated. They reported a significantly lower risk of metachronous gastric cancer in H. pylori eradication group vs the noneradication group. A lower risk of metachronous gastric cancer was recorded in participants receiving anti-H. pylori treatment vs those who did not receive H. pylori eradication therapy. There was no significant difference in the occurrence of metachronous gastric cancer in the H. pylori eradication group vs the H. pylori negative group.
