Does continuous positive airway pressure therapy benefit patients with coronary artery disease and obstructive sleep apnea?: A systematic review and meta‐analysis
Clinical Cardiology Jun 24, 2021
Chen Y, Chen Y, Wen F, et al. - In view of existing controversy regarding impacts of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and coronary artery disease (CAD) for cardiovascular outcomes and deaths, researchers explored this topic herein. They searched PubMed, EMBASE, Web of science, and Cochrane Library to identify relevant studies. This analysis involved nine studies comprising 2590 participants with OSA and CAD. Findings showed decreased risks of cardiovascular outcomes or death were achieved with CPAP usage, vs usual care, in patients with OSA and CAD, especially in the subgroup with apnea-hypopnea index less than 30 events/h.
