Does circumcision increase meatal stenosis risk â A systematic review and meta-analysis
Urology Aug 19, 2017
Morris BJ, et al. – The goal of this work was to perform a systematic review and meta–analysis to evaluate meatal stenosis (MS) diagnosis after circumcision, the potential association of MS with circumcision, and a potential method of prevention. They recorded that MS risk after circumcision is low (< 1%). Weak data demonstrates that MS risk might be higher in circumcised boys and young adult males. Application of petroleum jelly is effective to reduce the risk. Further research of MS arising from lichen sclerosus in older uncircumcised males is needed.
