Do patient perceptions of provider communication relate to experiences of physical pain?
Patient Education and Counselling Aug 21, 2017
Ruben MA, et al. – For the very first time, the clinicians investigated the associations between patients perceptions of provider communication, pain intensity and self–efficacy for managing chronic disease. They concluded that more positive provider communication was associated with higher levels of self–efficacy, which in turn was correlated with lower levels of pain intensity and pain interference. Findings suggested that by providing patient–centered communication, providers could be able to elicit higher levels of self–efficacy in their patients, which in turn would reduce pain intensity and interference in their patientÂs lives.
