Distinct metabolic profiles are associated with colorectal adenomas and serrated polyps

Fliss-Isakov N, et al. - The association between metabolic alterations and colorectal polyp type and advanced polyps was investigated in this study. Factors independently associated with adenomas were abdominal obesity, hypertension, and a high glycosylated hemoglobin percentage (HbA1c%), while a high triglyceride to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (TG/HDL) ratio was correlated with serrated polyps. In clinical practice, these parameters were easily accessible and could help define high-risk groups for colorectal cancer (CRC).
