Gunter S, et al. - Authors evaluated the hypothesis that inflammation influenced the potential impact of apelin on arterial function in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients. Data revealed a connection between apelin with reduced pressure pulsatility in RA patients without but not with a high inflammatory burden. It was determined that a loss of apelin protective effects on arterial function could contribute to the correlation between RA severity and cardiovascular risk.
