Nielen JTH, et al. - This study entailed comparison between patients with knee osteoarthritis (OA) with a joint replacement and matched controls, focusing on age- and sex-specific incidence of knee prostheses (KPs), revision KPs, prosthesis complications and health care costs in the years surrounding surgery. The increasing burden and medical need associated with end-stage OA, especially in younger age categories, was realized, along with a need for improved guidelines tailored to individual patient groups aimed at avoiding complications and revisions.
