Disability, quality of life, and socioeconomic burden of cluster headache: A critical review of current evidence and future perspectives
Headache: The Journal of Head and Face Pain Mar 05, 2020
D'Amico D, et al. - Researchers sought to summarize the available evidence on disability, quality of life (QoL), and economic burden on societies of cluster headache (CH). Further, they presented the tools which have been employed to measure these domains with indications for future research. Analysis of the available literature published up to 2019 suggests a significant impact of CH on sufferers QoL, disability, and work-related aspects, with a stronger impact on chronic CH than episodic CH. The CH-related disability seems to be larger than is observed in cases with other primary headache disorders. Rarely, information concerning patient-reported outcomes has been gathered from patients with CH. Findings suggest the necessity for an effort to improve the amount of information about the lived experience of cases with CH and for the development of CH-specific disability and QoL measures.
