Direct-to-implant vs two-stage tissue expander/implant reconstruction: 2-year risks and patient-reported outcomes from a prospective, multicenter study
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Nov 01, 2017
Srinivasa DR, et al. - A comparison was performed of 2-year complications and patient-reported outcomes for direct-to-implant vs tissue expander/implant reconstruction. In this prospective, multicenter study, the two procedures proved to have no statistically marked differences in terms of complication rates and most patient-reported outcomes at 2 years postoperatively. Researchers thus suggest direct-to-implant reconstruction as a viable alternative to expander/implant reconstruction. This analysis provides new evidence on which to base reconstructive decisions.
