Digestive decontamination in burn patients: A systematic review of randomized clinical trials and observational studies

Rubio–Regidor M, et al. – This systematic review aimed to evaluate the impact of selective digestive decontamination (SDD) or non–absorbable enteral antibiotics (EA) on mortality, the incidence of infection and its adverse effects in burn patients. The results indicated that SDD and EA have shown an advantageous effect in burn patients. The findings suggested that higher quality randomized clinical trials (RCTs) should be conducted to properly assess the efficacy and safety of SDD in this population.
