Differentiation of gastric schwannoma from gastric gastrointestinal stromal tumor with dual-phase contrast-enhanced computed tomography
Journal of Computer Assisted Tomography Sep 26, 2019
Li R, et al. - CT images of 103 pathologically validated patients with gastric schwannoma (n = 23) or gastric gastrointestinal stromal tumor (n = 80) were retrospectively investigated to recognize the CT characteristics to distinguish gastric schwannoma from the gastric gastrointestinal stromal tumor. Notable variables for distinguishing gastric schwannoma from gastric gastrointestinal stromal tumor were female, age younger than 57.5 years, round or ovoid morphology, extraluminal growth, homogeneous enhancement, lack of necrosis, presence of perigastric lymph nodes, and an enhancement degree of less than 15.4 Hounsfield units in the arterial phase. Thus, dual-phase contrast-enhanced CT could aid to distinguish gastric schwannoma from the gastric gastrointestinal stromal tumors.
