Differentiation of benign and metastatic axillary lymph nodes in breast cancer: Additive value of shear wave elastography to B-mode ultrasound
Clinical Imaging Apr 20, 2018
Seo M, et al. - Authors intended to investigate the additive value of shear wave elastography (SWE) for differentiating benign and metastatic axillary lymph nodes (LNs) in breast cancer. A comparison was performed of the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve, sensitivity, and specificity of B-mode US, SWE, and combined modality for 54 suspicious LNs. It was deduced that the sensitivity was considerably higher for combined modality when compared to B-mode US alone without a decrease in specificity. Thus, combined B-mode US and SWE could improve the detection of metastatic axillary LNs in patients with breast cancer.
