Differentiating non-responders from responders in children with moderate and severe asthma exacerbations
Journal of Asthma Mar 01, 2019
Sneller H, et al. - In this retrospective chart review, researchers evaluated factors correlated with non-response to treatment in children presenting to the Emergency Department (ED) with moderate and severe asthma exacerbations. They used the Modified Pulmonary Index Score (MPIS) to quantify illness acuity. There were eight hundred and fifty-two kids in this investigation. According to the findings, one in five children did not respond to treatment with exacerbations. These children were older and admitted more likely. Overall, they suggested that non-measured, possibly genetic factors can contribute to treatment response.
