Hooshmand F, et al. - Due to questionable efficacy/psychiatric tolerability, antidepressant use is controversial in bipolar disorder (BD). Researchers here assessd correlates of antidepressant use in bipolar I/II disorder patients. They observed higher antidepressant use in BD II vs BD I patients. In addition, antidepressant use was observed to be associated with markers of heightened illness severity in both BD I and BD II patients.
