Differences of cluster headache on the basis of gender in the Korean Cluster Headache Registry
Headache: The Journal of Head and Face Pain Sep 29, 2019
Chung PW, Lee MJ, Park JW, et al. - The prevalence and clinical characteristics of women with cluster headache (CH) vs men were examined in the Korean Cluster Headache Registry, a prospective, cross-sectional, multicenter headache registry. Among 250 enrolled patients, 41 (16.4%) were women (male to female ratio 5.1:1). Women did not differ from men in mean age of onset (30.7 ± 15.5 vs 29.0 ± 11.1 years), pain severity, duration, attack frequency and headache-related disability. Among autonomic features, women with CH rarely (4.9%) experience facial and forehead sweating compared with men with CH (33.0%). However, women with CH reported significantly higher depression and stress.
