Oreški I, et al. - Patients with chronic odontogenic rhinosinusitis (CORS) vs those with chronic non-odontogenic rhinosinusitis (CnORS), were evaluated for the possible differences in self-reported symptoms. Among 64 patients diagnosed with chronic rhinosinusitis according to EPOS guidelines, 32 patients had CORS, and 32 patients had CnORS (the control group). In VAS symptom score, a significantly higher symptom score was reported in the odontogenic group for fever and halitosis. This suggests a possible value of halitosis and fever as the most relevant symptoms in distinguishing between CORS and CnORS symptomatology. Medical professionals in the assistance of better diagnostic tools, such as VAS symptom score, may quickly recognize CORS specific symptomatology and treat the disease as early and adequately as possible.
