Differences in morbidity and mortality rates in black, white, and Hispanic very preterm infants among New York City hospitals
JAMA Pediatrics Jan 05, 2018
Howell EA, et al. - An inspection was carried out of the variations in neonatal morbidity and mortality rates among non-Hispanic black (black), Hispanic, and non-Hispanic white (white) very preterm infants. Additionally, researchers investigated if these differences were elucidated by the site of delivery. It was deduced that black and Hispanic VPTB infants exhibited a greater tendency of being born at hospitals with higher risk-adjusted neonatal morbidity and mortality rates. Among black and Hispanic infants, these variations contributed to excess morbidity and mortality.
