Differences in long-term outcomes after coronary artery bypass grafting using single vs multiple arterial grafts and the association with gender
JAMA Cardiology Apr 15, 2021
Gaudino M, Samadashvili Z, Hameed I, et al. - Researchers conducted this statewide cohort study using data from New York’s Cardiac Surgery Reporting System and New York’s Vital Statistics file on 63,402 patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) with the aim to compare the outcomes of the use of multiple arterial grafts vs a single arterial graft during CABG for women and men. Among low-risk, but not high-risk, patients, better outcomes were observed with multiple arterial grafting; this was noted among men and women at different thresholds. Men, but not women, undergoing multiple arterial grafting had lower mortality at 7 years.
