Dietary intakes of women with type 1 diabetes before and during pregnancy: A pre-specified secondary subgroup analysis among CONCEPTT participants

Neoh SL, et al. - In this pre-specified subgroup analysis of CONCEPTT including 63 women planning pregnancy and 93 pregnant women from 14 sites in England, Scotland and Ireland, investigators characterized before and during pregnancy dietary intakes of women with type 1 diabetes. According to findings, England, Scotland, and Ireland pregnant women's diets are characterized by high intakes of fat, low fiber, and poor carbohydrate quality. Researchers found that consumption of fruits and vegetables was lacking, resulting in one in four women being at risk of micronutrient insufficiencies.
