Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension and risk of chronic kidney disease: A systematic review and meta-analysis of observational studies

Clinical Nutrition Oct 22, 2019

Mozaffari H, et al. - In this systematic review and meta-analysis of observational studies, researchers explored the connection between Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) dietary patterns and the risk of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Of the seven studies included in the systematic review, six were eligible for meta-analysis inclusion. The total sample size was 568,213 candidates involving 16,694 cases of CKD. A significant inverse link was found between DASH dietary patterns and the risk of developing CKD. Following DASH dietary patterns may have protective effects against the development and progression of CKD.
