Journal of Anesthesia Mar 09, 2018
Marty P, et al. - Consequences of diaphragmatic paralysis were determined in obese patients undergoing arthroscopic shoulder surgery. Diaphragmatic paralysis was found to be associated with dyspnea, occurrence of hypoxic episodes and failure of ambulatory procedure in patients with body mass index ≥ 30 kg/m2 undergoing arthroscopic shoulder surgery. Diaphragmatic paralysis was ascribed to high volume interscalene block (ISB) and also, to a lesser extent, low volume ISB.
