Diagnostic yield of EUS-guided through-the-needle biopsy in pancreatic cysts: A meta-analysis
Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Feb 06, 2020
Facciorusso A, et al. - In this meta-analysis involving 490 individuals, researchers provided a pooled estimate of the diagnostic performance of through-the-needle biopsy for the sampling of pancreatic cysts. Eleven studies were involved in this analysis. Most of the patients were female, and the most common location of cystic lesions was body/tail. The pooled diagnostic accuracy rate, sensitivity, and specificity of through-the-needle biopsy, respectively, were 78.8%, 82.2%, and 96.8%. Mild bleeding and pancreatitis incidence rates, respectively, were 4% and 2%. In EUS-guided tissue acquisition of pancreatic cysts, the use of through-the-needle biopsy as a safe and effective tool was supported.
