Diagnostic yield of computed tomography–guided percutaneous lung biopsy in patients with prior nondiagnostic transbronchial biopsy
Journal of Computer Assisted Tomography Mar 25, 2020
Li QK, et al. - Researchers explored the diagnostic yield of CT–guided core needle biopsy (CNB) for initial transbronchial biopsy (TBB)–based nondiagnostic lung lesions. This study included a total of 101 consecutive individuals with initial TBB-based nondiagnostic lung lesions who underwent CT-guided CNB between January 2014 and December 2017. A chest radiologist with more than 5 years of experience conducted all procedures with an 18G core needle. After the initial TBB, the CT-guided CNB was conducted within 30 days. They obtained 90 and 11 central and peripheral lung lesions, respectively. For accurate diagnosis of the lung lesions, it was indicated that CT–guided CNB is a beneficial diagnostic modality with inconclusive pathologic outcomes after initial TBB.
