Diagnostic value of gadoxetic acid-enhanced MR imaging to distinguish HCA and its subtype from FNH: A systematic review
International Journal of Medical Sciences Sep 18, 2017
Guo Y, et al. - The diagnostic performance of gadoxetic acid-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (Gd-EOB-DTPA-MRI) underwent appraisal for the differentiation of hepatocellular adenoma (HCA) and focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH), along with HCA classification, with the aid of the low signal intensity (SI) in the hepatobiliary phase (HBP). The data displayed that low SI in the HBP of Gd-EOB-DTPA-MRI correlated with higher accuracy for distinguishing HCA from FNH. The diagnostic accuracy could, however, be overestimated, especially for the diagnosis of subtypes of β-catenin activated adenomas (b-HCA) and inflammatory adenomas (I-HCA). Hence, consideration of the risk factors and conventional imaging findings was recommended simultaneously.
