Diagnostic value of FDG-PET vs magnetic resonance imaging for detecting spondylitis: A systematic review and meta-analysis
The Spine Journal Aug 22, 2018
Yin Y, et al. - The researchers carried out a systematic review and meta-analysis to compare the diagnostic values of 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (FDG-PET) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in detecting spondylitis via systematically search of online PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases through September 2017 for studies comparing the diagnostic values of 18F-FDG-PET and MRI. As compared to MRI, the summary results of sensitivity, specificity, positive likelihood ratio (PLR), diagnostic odds ratio (DOR), and area under the summary receiver operating characteristic (SROC) were higher in 18F-FDG-PET. It was noted that negative likelihood ratio (NLR) was lower in 18F-FDG-PET than in MRI. In detecting spondylitis, 18F-FDG-PET had higher diagnostic value compared with MRI.
