Diagnostic performance of computed tomography for bowel endometriosis: A systematic review and meta-analysis
European Journal of Radiology Sep 30, 2019
Woo S, et al. - Twelve studies (n = 1,091 patients) were involved to carry out this systematic review and meta-analysis relative to the performance of CT for diagnosis of bowel endometriosis. At meta-regression analysis, the history of former surgery for endometriosis was the only notable factor influencing heterogeneity. Particularly, studies that incorporated patients with such history exhibited significantly greater specificity in comparison with studies that did not. Thus, in the diagnosis of bowel endometriosis, CT was found to exhibit superior performance. Because of the small number of incorporated studies and publication bias, additional studies may be required to verify these results.
