Schaafsma JD, Rawal S, Coutinho JM, et al. - Through a single-center, retrospective study of 205 consecutive individuals who were referred for vessel wall MR imaging to elucidate the etiology of an ischemic stroke or TIA, experts characterized the influence of intracranial vessel wall MR imaging on the etiologic classification of ischemic stroke. When vessel wall MR imaging was conducted to refine the etiology of a stroke or TIA, it often modified the etiologic classification. Moreover, this is significant since the etiologic classification is the foundation for therapeutic decision-making.
