Diagnostic evaluation of diffusion kurtosis imaging for prostate cancer: Detection in a biopsy population
European Journal of Radiology Aug 26, 2019
Ding K, Yao Y, Gao Y, et al. - In this prospective analysis, researchers compared diffusional kurtosis (DK) imaging with standard diffusion-weighted imaging in terms of the feasibility for discriminating prostate cancer (PCa) from benign prostate hyperplasia, as well as low-from high-grade malignant regions. They included 147 consecutive patients with suspected PCa. Multi-parametric 1.5-TMR was performed in participants. With 5 b values (0,600,800,1600,and 2400sec/mm2), DK imaging was acquired. Two radiologists performed region of interest-based measurements on ADC, D, and K map. Findings were suggestive of the possible utility of DK model in adding value in PCa detection and diagnosis, however, none enabled differentiation of low-from high-grade PCas (including Gleason score (GS) = 3+4 from GS = 4+3).
