Takedatsu H, et al. - The target of the experts was to gauge the diagnostic and clinical role of proteinase 3 antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (PR3-ANCAs) as markers for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). In contrast with patients having Crohn’s disease (CD) and controls, PR3-ANCAs appeared to be significantly more prevalent in patients with ulcerative colitis (UC). In order to diagnose UC and to assess the disease severity, PR3-ANCAs as serological markers proved to be useful.
