Diagnostic accuracy of percutaneous biopsy in retroperitoneal sarcoma
British Journal of Surgery Jan 28, 2019
Almond LM, et al. - Researchers investigated the diagnostic accuracy of percutaneous core biopsy in retroperitoneal sarcoma with respect to histological diagnosis and tumor grade via reviewing data on patients with suspected retroperitoneal sarcoma (RPS) who underwent percutaneous biopsy followed by surgical resection between 2005 and 2016 at one of two tertiary European sarcoma units. Findings suggest high reliability of a diagnosis of dedifferentiated liposarcoma (DDLPS) or leiomyosarcoma on percutaneous biopsy. Identification of high-grade sarcomas with high specificity supports a study on neoadjuvant therapy in these patients.
