Diagnosis of pulmonary embolism during pregnancy: A multicenter prospective management outcome study
Annals of Internal Medicine Dec 07, 2018
Righini M, et al. - In this multicenter, multinational, prospective diagnostic management outcome study, researchers prospectively validated a diagnostic strategy in pregnant women with suspected pulmonary embolism (PE). This investigation involved pretest clinical probability assessment, high-sensitivity D-dimer testing, bilateral lower limb compression ultrasonography (CUS), and computed tomography pulmonary angiography (CTPA). Study participants included pregnant women with clinically suspected PE in emergency departments. According to findings, diagnostic strategy based on clinical probability assessment, D-dimer measurement, CUS, and CTPA can safely rule out PE in pregnant women.
