Respiratory Medicine Apr 15, 2020
Meerburg JJ, et al. - In this study diagnostic criteria and quantification methods were explored for bronchiectasis. The Embase, Medline Ovid, Web of Science, Cochrane and Google Scholar were applied to conduct a systematic literature search. This research selected english written, clinical studies that included bronchiectasis as outcome measure and used image quantification methods. They extracted criteria for bronchiectasis, quantification methods, patient demographics, and data on image acquisition. For this analysis, 4182 abstracts were screened, 972 full texts were selected, and 122 studies were included. Different diagnostic criteria for bronchiectasis are being used, but No confirmation studies were found to support these criteria, although different diagnostic criteria for bronchiectasis are being used. Vlidated and age-specific cut-off values are required to use bronchiectasis as outcome in further studies.
