Diagnosis and management of asthma, COPD and asthma-COPD overlap among primary care physicians and respiratory/allergy specialists: A global survey
The Clinical Respiratory Journal Mar 29, 2019
Jenkins C, et al. - Researchers intended to gain insights into modern clinical strategies to the differential diagnosis and management of asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma-COPD overlap (ACO). Across 13 countries, they obtained 891 responses to an online global survey from respiratory/allergy specialists and primary care practitioners (PCPs) (447 PCPs and 444 specialists). According to the findings, a working diagnosis of ACO could be reached by most PCPs and respiratory/allergy specialists, but they failed to come to a consensus on what “optimal management” is and which diagnostic features are crucial. Implementing clinical investigations including patients with ACO appeared necessary.
